1944 “Banner” “War Time”
Southern Jumbo (SJ) 45 Acoustic Guitar.
Solid “War Time” Gibson.
Center seam is cleated and sound.
All braces are solid.
While in my possession, the neck has not been reset because the intonation, noting, fretting, and sound are exceptional!
Action is perfect, not too high or not too low.
Strings do not "buzz" anywhere up or down the neck!
The guitar has a few capo marks on back of neck (see photos).
NOTE: During the time this instrument has been in my possession, a capo has NEVER been utilized!
No truss rod present as metal was scarce in 1944 and needed for war materials.
The instrument is all original and has NOT been refinished as evidenced by the black light photos!
Only observation is the sound hole was enlarged, approximately 1-2mm.
I am unsure of why, maybe to make it louder, which the guitar is loud and projects.
The instrument is an exceptional guitar as well with powerful yet sweet tones which have made “Banner” era guitars so sought after.

War Time guitars are a part of History.
The Kalamazoo girls (Kalamazoo, Michigan), most likely constructed this instrument as the men were at War.
Serial #: 2318; in red pencil ink is the #14.
NOTE: Photos listed were taken by original owner from whom I purchased the instrument!
The ONLY reason I am selling my guitar is because of health issues! Following two (2) ischemic strokes I am no longer able to chord the instrument!
