Prinz of Tone! Hohner The Prinz Mad Cat Prince Telecaster with Bookmatched Flamed Maple Top

Create your own “TonePrinz” with this 1988 Hohner The Prinz model Tele, made famous by Prince (Hohner changed the model name from Mad Cat to Prinz after they noticed him noticing them). It’s a gorgeous guitar, with bookmatched flamed maple top and back, bound sides, full 25.5” scale D-shaped maple neck and 12” radius fretboard, 43mm nut width, and weighs 8.2lbs. The neck pickup has great jazzy depth to it, the bridge pickup can cut and wail. 

This is the more desirable first edition of the guitar with the Fender style headstock. Set up and intonated with a set of 10s, the guitar is in terrific shape—no dents or cracks to speak of, no scratchy or intermittent electronics, and only some light scratching on the body (seen in pictures here) to keep it from truly “Excellent” shape. Someone at some point seems to have placed a hot pink pickguard “skin” over the original tortoiseshell around the bridge; this could easily be scraped off to reveal the tortoiseshell beneath, but really: hot pink is the new tortoiseshell, isn’t it?
