Here for sale, we have a Roland MKS-7 Super Quartet Analog Rack Synthesizer from the 80's! The Roland MKS-7 is basically four full analog synthesizers in one housing, with essentially the circuit of a Roland Juno 106 and Roland TR-707 in one unit. The synth's sections are categorized into Rhythm (the drum synth), Bass, Chord, and Melody. Each of the four synth instruments functions as a separate synth that can be controlled and played independently (or together, through different MIDI settings), with numerous sound patches that can be chosen for each (see the internet for examples). In short, you basically have 4 synthesizers in one box with numerous patches and sounds for each. Surprisingly, compared to many rack synths from the 80's, this unit is pretty intuitive, and I figured it out very quickly when testing and recording it.
This unit works and functions as should. Only thing to note there is there is some small noise coming from the "melody" synth only, none of the others. From the sounds of it, it's nothing some DeoxIT on the slider and similar maintenance wouldn't fix, but I'm not handy enough with synth gear to do it myself. If it tells you anything, though, I recorded a demo song with it before listing it, and the noise never got in the way of recording (Scan the QR code on the last picture to hear the demo track on Soundcloud). Cosmetically, the synth is in very good condition. There are some tiny scratches on the rack ears, but they haven't begun to wear away as to be unusable. The rack ears were doing their job just fine before I unscrewed the rack for pictures and to test the unit, and they still are fully functioning.
I recorded a finished demo track to test the synth, to enjoy it one last time, and so you, the buyer, can hear the actual device demoed before purchasing. Of course, there are plenty of other places online to hear the MKS-7 Super Quartet generally demoed also. Scan the QR code on the last picture to hear the demo track I recorded of all four synth sections together in a quick song (Only processing on the track is some reverb and EQ).
*Includes Power Cable and a MIDI Cable
Willing to consider and discuss offers.
