Rare John C. Church Imperial Parlor Guitar. This guitar was found in terrible shape with neck off, top off and frets removed from the fingerboard. It has been completely rebuilt by a luthier of 30 years, with 20 years in the Elderly Instruments Repair Shop. The top has been rebraced with an x-style bracing similar to a Martin O model guitar. There are many small top cracks that have been carefully glued and cleated. The neck was reset, then the fingerboard was planed and refretted. Unfortunately the guitar did not come with the original tailpiece/bridge. So, it has a new ebony bridge installed with a bone saddle. It also has a new bone nut. The neck is straight, it has a nice low action and sounds great, like a small piano. Please see video
It has a spruce top with solid White Oak back and sides, including a very interesting one piece Oak back. There are no cracks in the sides or back. The tuners are the original Streicher tuning machines, and they work very well. The neck has the small medallion in the headstock but the engraving has all worn away. There are no other markings or serial numbers on it. The neck has a very pronounced v shape to it which you can see in the pictures. The nut width is 1 15/16" and the scale length is 24 5/8".
It comes with a case that was not original to the guitar. Please feel free to ask any questions. I have found the Reverb shipping calculator to be incorrect.
