This 1952 goldtop conversion just came to me from a collection and absolutely one of the finest Les Paul's I have ever played , in every respect, compared to a number of completely original real 1958 1959 and 1960 Les Pauls. Converted to 1957 specs by Hideo Kamamoto, a renowned luthier who published his first guitar repair book in 1971.
Unlike all the other overdone conversions out there this is the Simple 'correct' or unmolested conversion, with just neck angle and P'ickups, abr-1/stop tail piece., and as a result you get real vintage 1952 glorious tone and resonance. No changes to the top or neck profile or any other modifications or issues.
And as a result, This one has all the articulate highs, a wonderful juicy mid-range that is not Barky and fantastic rich low end not flabby it is incredibly articulate. This conversion was done 25 or so years by Hideo Kamamoto, the world-famous repairman and violin Builder. Look him up you'll see who he is. He is pictured with this Les Paul in one of the images recently. He published and wrote his first book on guitar repair in 1971. He's operated Kamamoto Strings,
since 1967 and recently retired but still works through his well outfitted home shop where the photo was taken from our visit with him. Various luthiers have looked at this guitar and have not been able to tell that a neck was reset even with eye magnification. Hideo is a true master. And having its original finish it makes for a perfect example. The bridge and Pickups came from a very late1961 ES345 . These two pickups sound amazing and are very balanced and are in Phase with each other. Extremely articulate and pick sensitive ( notes just JUMP out) and part of the magic of this guitar. The knobs and Tuners came from an actual 1959 Gibson Les Paul and were purchased at the time of the conversion 25 years ago. One of the tuning machines may be a slightly later kluson. Original 1950's Lifton  "cali girl "early Les Paul case included as pictured. The neck is a wonderful medium profile not a large baseball bat whatsoever. Extremely fun to play fits your hand like a glove. Professional refret allows for wonderful playing and bending from top to bottom with nice comfortable low action. The Frets seem very similar to 6105 fret wire to me. This guitar plays and sounds better than some of my friends $300,000 less Paul's that we have compared it to. No bullshit. The guitar looks stunning in person with amazing finish wear and  a true Relic that has been well taken care of but well loved/played over the years. It's pretty darn light for a les paul and approximately 8.9 lbs. If you want that 57 gold top without the $100,000 price tag and don't want to waste a lot of time with guitars that don't sound amazing or play amazing, then this is the one. I don't see guitars like this coming up for sale anymore. Period. Look around on reverb and you'll see the junk that's out there. The Les Paul conversions that are for sale have more changes and issues than a rattlesnake in a boot store I'm not sure how this guitar would be shipped because of insurance but any questions about that or the guitar just message and we can chat in real time. I'm all ears. I have the original strap buttons and original input jack plate. Also included are two of the guitars original early 1952 pots. $36,000 Cheers and enjoy your music
