Collings CJ, Baked Sitka, Maple, Short Scale, Shade Top

(NEW) Here is a very special piece from Collings, a flawless CJ with a torrefied Sitka top and shimmering, three dimensional maple back and sides.  We pulled out all the stops on this one, asking Collings to create a Jumbo that was as much fun to look at as it is to play and listen to.

The torrefied or "baked" Sitka spruce adds a bit of a "broken in" dimension to the sound, but make no mistake, the tone of this guitar is loud and proud!  Played with a pick, the sound just leaps from this guitar, with a satisfying bass "boom" that never overpowers the sparkling mids and highs.  It has a tonal balance not easily achieved in a large guitar.  The shorter 24 7/8" scale contributes to the warmth of the sound, and brings down the string tension for excellent playability.  The maple neck, back and sides have been toned to match the gorgeous shade burst on the top, and we figured while we're at it, let's add tortoise binding to the neck and peghead and some SJ inlays on the fingerboard.  The Style 3 backstrip really pops on the toned maple back... she's a looker!!

1 3/4" nut and 2 3/16" string spacing at the saddle.  This unique and wonderful instrument comes with a TKL hardshell case.
