Vintage mid-60s Alamo Challenger tube amplifier. Model 2562, hand built in San Antonio, Texas. 5 watts of power with the original 8" speaker. This amp, serial #36209, features a tan and gold grill cloth, meaning it was manufactured from 1964-66, according to "Guitar Stories, Vol. 2: The Histories of Cool Guitars" by Michael Wright.
Cabinet measures 15" H x 19" W x 5.75" D and weighs just 17 pounds. Three inputs, volume and tone controls. Tubes are 12AX7 preamp, 5Y3GT rectifier, and 6V6 power.
As I understand it, this is basically the same circuit as a tweed-era Fender — a Champ with a tone control — at a fraction of the price for a vintage Fender. Play it clean or crank it up for a dirty blues tone.
