1939 Larson Brothers Prairie State 19" Super Jumbo. Phenomenal guitar! Custom made for performer Jay Rich.
A label placed inside the guitar by August Larson reads: 7-21-39 CUSTOM BUILT FOR JAY RICH A Larson, Chicago ser. #1552.
This guitar was originally an f" hole Larson style arch-top, but was converted to a flat-top sometime in early 1960's by Jon Lundberg and Mario Martello of Berkeley, California. Lundberg replaced it using an old piece of spruce and reusing most of the top pearl. He also designed and crafted a new and quite exquisite bridge. The cutaway is original and rare! Possibly the only one made by the Larson's. Beautiful curly Maple back and sides, refinished light walnut. Spruce top is scalloped X braced Martin style. Gold Grover tuners. 5 very small back crack repairs. 60's hard shell case. The action and playability on this is very nice. The sound is big, round and warm. A video could never do it justice. It would take a recording studio to capture it's true essence. I can tell you that 19" body gives it a fat bass boom yet somehow it has a nice snap on the treble notes. Also, the stage presence this gives someone when performing is unreplaceable. It doesn't need a pickup to be heard.
Just added a couple photos , closeup of lower bout bridge area showing a nice tight bridge, and a closeup forward of the bridge showing some pick wear, not that noticeable in photo and something I hardly noticed before but I'm sure a buyer would like to know, lastly a close up of pick strums on the opposite side above bridge. Also to be noted there is age appropriate checking.
Also will consider full or partial trade for recording gear.
Shipping to USA and parts of Canada only.
