About This Listing

A 1959 tweed Fender Super-Amp!  The perfect pairing for your 1959 Les Paul or Statocaster.
This lovely and rare tweed Super has the original surviving circuitry and transformers.  The only capacitor that I can see that may have been replaced is the bias cap.  Look at the pictures and judge for yourself. I know some guys think all vintage amps should be rebuilt, but many guys don't, unless of course the amp doesn't work. This one works and is quiet.

The preamp tubes are all NOS American and include original boxes.  The 12ay7 slot is sporting an original NOS RCA 5751 for a touch more gain while maintaining that tweed "touch".  A GE rectifier tube covers the other end.

The photos show the amp wearing a pair of coveted RCA blackplates.  These tubes test used and working and are included, with used RCA boxes.  However, for the safety of the transformers a matched pair of robust new JJ 6L6 have been chosen to match the existing bias.

The cabinet is original, the tubechart dates it to 1959 and the serial number on the chart matches the chassis number. I'm pretty sure the grill is original as are the back panels. Original leather handle is included, a replacement is added for safety. Original 2 wire cord, probably new plug.

Yes, it's been retweeded. And the speakers are just broken in Weber Alnico with Fender labels added for cuteness. There may be other changes I can't identify, so PLEASE consider the photos an important part of this description.

This amazing amp plays and sounds like ambrosia. It is truly one of the most amazing amps I've ever owned, and I really love vintage amps. It feels like it's playing for you! It's just so easy to play so many different styles and it inspires you to play new and interesting things. From 1-3 you get warm but sparkling clean with plenty of volume. From 3-12 it's not much louder but the overdrive and harmonics go from smooth breakup on the hardest picked notes all the way to total saturation, approaching high gain. Yet even with insane amounts of crunch, it cleans up to a sparkling clean with the twist of your guitar volume. It even has plenty of crunch with low output vintage strat pickups. Between the high and low gain inputs and volumes you get either all the headroom, or all the compression you could want.
The 2 channels of this amp are voiced perfectly for either single coils or humbuckers. It's louder than a tweed deluxe but quieter than a bassman. With most drummers, I can get from clean to insane and fit in the mix perfectly. It also sounds amazing with every overdrive it fuzz I've used, but you won't need them. This Super-Amp is truly the most versatile vintage amp I've ever played, and I have a room full.

Please read my policies. I ship only to the contiguous 48 United States. I will NEVER give a partial refund, but you can return the amp within 3 days, insured and at your expense. Local pickup is cash in person only, shipping waived. If it isn't cash, I ship, period. And about shipping fee includes time, materials and insurance. It's not refundable. I will ship with a major carrier, well packed, insured in full to a deliverable STREET ADDRESS that's verifiable per your payment method requirements.

Sorry about all the terms, but this it's really an AMAZING amp, and I want it well cared for, as will you.
