Pono Player (Yellow) – portable high-resolution digital music player, Works great!

For sale is a used Pono Player. I am the original and only owner. The unit has some cosmetic wear, but it works flawlessly. It excels at playing lossless music files. Please refer to details below.

Condition:

Cosmetics:

• There are areas of discoloration on the outside of the unit. Nothing has ever been spilled on it and it has never been exposed to water or temperature extremes. I don’t know why it developed these discolorations but from what I’ve read online, it isn’t uncommon for the yellow Pono to have this issue as it ages.
• There is some scuffing and scratching on the ends but no cracks, chips or other damage of that nature.
• The surface has slightly tacky feel to it. The covering is made of a rubberized material (not slick) so it has always had this texture to some degree. With age, it might be little bit more this way.

Operation:

• Other than the cosmetics mentioned above, the unit is in very good condition. Everything works just fine.
• The screen is clean, bright, and clear.
• The jacks and buttons are tight and work well.
• The battery holds a charge but with age the capacity has decreased slightly. The battery will charge to around 90-95% when plugged in.
• I have recently tested it and with a fully charged battery, the Pono played for 5 hours and 10 minutes before the 10% battery warning came up! For comparison, new, the Pono had a listed max play time of 6 hours on battery.
• Note that you can also power the unit using USB computer power or plug it in using the included USB cord and AC adaptor.

Library/Music File Management:

Pono Music World, which was the app for managing the device’s music library, was discontinued when Pono (the company) went dark, but there are other options for getting music on and off the device.

• If you plug the Pono into your computer, the internal memory and any microSD card you have inserted in it come up as external drives. You can just copy files over, underneath the top-level Music folder, on either drive. The Pono re-scans its library on startup and it’ll pick up any changes (the scan may take some time, after substantial changes – be patient).
• I’ve also used JRiver Media Center (v 26) to manage the Pono’s library. It recognizes Pono in its devices/drives area.

Audio Quality:

• The audio quality is excellent (it has high quality components). I have been very happy with it and It still holds its own against more modern lossless players.
