Up for sale, a 1985 Ignacio Fleta e hijos classical guitar in exceptional condition, complete with the original hardshell case. A stunningly well-kept guitar, this instrument recently surfaced in Japan and comes complete with the business card of Eisuki Ozaki, a prominent Japanese classical guitar distributor who presumably brokered this guitar when it sold new in '85.

Known as the Stradivarius of the classical guitar world for good reason, Fleta's instruments are prized the world over, with the "e hijos" (and sons) suffix models produced by his sons Gabriel and Francisco after Fleta's passing in 1977. Before the Fleta family closed their books to new orders, the wait time to receive a Fleta instrument was 20 years. Championed by the greats of the classical guitar world from Segovia to John Williams, Ignacio Fleta's craftsmanship has placed him among the most respected luthiers of the 20th century.

This Fleta features a cedar top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck capped with an ebony fingerboard. No tonal accolade can be heaped on this Ignacio Fleta which wouldn’t be well-worn territory (and well-deserved), yet suffice it to say the sound is extremely articulate, warm, and responsive to playing dynamics with a nice snap in the high treble range and exquisite definition on the wound strings. The instrument has been strung with fresh normal tension strings here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, thoroughly inspected and professionally setup.

The mahogany neck has a round profile carve with slightly more pronounced shoulder on the treble side, measuring .890" deep at the 1st fret and .970" at the 9th. On the ebony fingerboard, the medium jumbo fretwire is flawless, and the guitar plays well up the 650mm scale. The bone nut measures 54mm in width, and the headstock features a multi-ply veneer on the face, topped with a thick cut of rosewood. The gold plated Fustero tuning machines are intact, turn smoothly, and hold pitch reliably.

The dark gloss-finished rosewood bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, with minimal saddle height and action well within spec, measuring 10/64" on the bass side at the 12th fret, and 8/64" on the treble side. Visible through the soundhole, the dated label is flawless, and the serial is cleanly stamped on the heel block. The instrument is framed by rosewood binding with additional multi-ply purfling and green accents, and the intricate rosette features a herringbone pattern on the inner and outer thirds. Crack-free and exceedingly well-kept, cosmetic wear on the gloss French Polish finish is limited to a tiny bit of wear behind the bridge and a couple tiny marks and stray finish scratches on the body as a whole, with a tiny bit of wear along the back rosewood binding edge as well. On the neck profile, there are a few very faint scuffs on the treble-side shoulder behind fret 7, and a couple additional even fainter marks central to the carve behind frets 1-3.

The original hardshell case is included, along with the original dealer's business card.
