This 1991 Tokai Love Rock is brimming with style and Mojo, and has been upgraded with some serious accoutrements that'll make you grin. Tokai knocked one over the fence on the day that this cherry bursting beauty rolled off the line. The beauty's 3-piece maple top is laminated to a resonant and beautiful 2 piece mahogany body that has a feel and heft reminiscent of Gibsons best 'bursts. The neck has a perfect carve that is basically like an early 60 LP, not the slim taper, but more like a slimmed '59 shape that is just right. Under the hood, The Dude decided to sweeten up things considerably by adding a pair of delicious Gibson Super '57 Classic pickups wired to the stock controls with the addition of Mallory caps. These p'ups bring a classic PAF tonality to the party but spike the tonal punch with an overwound design that ups the articulation and grind without sacrificing clarity. The upgrades continue as we move to the bridge with the addition of a Gotoh replacement that assures exceptional performance and precise intonation. We plugged into our Vintage Deluxe Reverb and got a thrill, this beauty performs like a thoroughbred with a wide spectrum of tonality and a spunky, toe tapping kick. At 8.5 pounds this beast from the East is weighted just right and has an uncannily Gibson-esque feel about it. Cosmetically this honey has only a few slight handling marks, minimal play wear and no issues whatsoever. Here's an opportunity to get your hand's on a hot rod that has just the right bits of jazzing up, a great guitar that just fits right in there. It has just been professionally set up and dialed in for optimal playability and tone. It has low action with no buzzing or dead spots and is an absolute joy to play. It has been deep cleaned and detailed. All guitars will arrive looking and playing great. The frets have been leveled / dressed / polished and the fingerboard was cleaned. (Unfinished Rosewood and Ebony boards get treated with Fret Doctor - a proprietary all natural oil that is the best on the market) It was professionally set up and has brand new strings, the action was adjusted, the intonation is spot on and it plays excellent. All the electronics work flawlessly.
