About This Listing

Collins 212A Stereo (LCR) Tube Console Complete Rebuilt Modded full modern function RCA Telefunken Killer.  8 preamps, 2 program amps, and 1 monitor amp (a total of 11 great sounding preamps) and 2 transformered remote channels which makes it a 10x2 mixer as well.

This console is the exact actual console used to record/mix all of Leon Bridges album Coming Home.  Along with the 8 track machines , this was the central piece of gear used, as well as several other albums cut on it either as the main preamps and/or sub mixer.

It went through a complete restoration ground up with period specific NOS parts, including replacing faulty caps, replacing several scratchy or out of spec Daven attenuators, putting in high quality tubes throughout, and resistors wherever out of value.

Every channel was gone through and rebuilt where necessary, including the monitor and program amps.  The first 4 preamps have switches to toggle between high and low impedance for a mix of modern microphone impedance and 50 ohm ribbons or what have you.  Every channel has a switch to toggle between direct out and the mix bus which has its own dedicated output (very useful if you want to use separate amps for makeup gain) and has a switch on the mix bus out to toggle between different bus loads.  Each channel also has a switch above the Daven attenuator for panning the channel between Left Center and Right.  Both program amps and the monitor amp have all three operate at microphone level impedance inputs and have direct outs of their own (Think very smooth high gain preamp like a v76).  There are also insert points before the daven pots on all 8 preamps if you want to put an EQ in the circuit.  There are also two very very useful 'remote channels' that are basically transformer balanced pads (killer for padding down high gain outputs, putting two more channels of line level signal into the mix bus making it a 10 channel mixer, or just running signal through because the transformers sound amazing!)

The Console also comes with custom power supplies built by Coil Audio (one of those very talented gents was the person responsible for the buildout).  Also included is a custom built patchy that can be used directly with the console.  For the full asking price I'll also throw in a custom 8 channel pad box (and line level selector) that ties right in with the console and was built by the same talented engineer.

This listing if for a complete front end tube console built in 1948 (serial # 25 !!!) that was serviced by a competent tech and engineer who planned around work flow and usability.

All questions welcome.  I highly suggest this being shipped via freight and insured for the full value.  The nature of equipment like this is not always the happiest with poor shipping, and due to that nature I can't fully guarantee this all the way to your door, which is why I require insuring the item.  I can however say that it's sounding great now! I'll charge a flat rate to the US, and if you pay full price, again I'll cover the difference in freighting (trust me, it's a lot more).  This is available to Europe and Canada, shipping will be determined after sale.

I know I'm missing other cool stuff here, but all that said, this thing sounds great and that Leon record only shows off a small amount of what it's capable of.  Message me if you want other examples.

A 1948 Studio Swiss Army Knife!

Thanks!
