This one may be the one lol! This Boombox sounds so good! The onboard mics sound awesome for recording acoustic guitars, drums, singer/songwriter stuff, and full band practices! It also sounds downright amazing for just listening to albums on tape. It’s amazing to listen to music from the era it came out in on the medium of the time, pop in a tape by The Cure or The Smiths and it takes you right there! This is how popular music was listened to back in the day, and it’s totally cool to listen to music the way the people who made it thought it was going to be listened to.
I love tape. I love recording on tape, I love listening to tapes. I like good and fancy sounding tapes, I like crunchy cheap tapes, I like tapes. This boombox sounds awesome. It loves being a boombox, possibly more than any other boombox. The onboard mics sound awesome, and the playback you hear when you play back a good take is epic. It literally sounds perfect. If you play acoustic 60’s/70’s psyche folk type stuff, just sit in front of this and sing your songs. Kind of has an early Devandra Banhart vibe, perfect amount of warble but seriously it’s pretty shockingly clear and beautiful sounding. The volume knob is also the gain knob for the preamp driving the mics (a lot of old boomboxes are setup like that), and it you can totally drive the preamp hard to get mega crunchy acoustic guitars that sound like a pushed AC30. It sounds seriously awesome. You then take that track, export it to your DAW, and layer it into your digital production. It’s a cool way to incorporate tape into your digital production and get a hybrid tape/digital process thing going on. Super cool for intros/outros of songs. It’s an awesome way to go.
This thing is in beautiful condition. The onboard plug is hardwired in so no one ever left batteries in this thing that corroded (excellent), and it’s nice and vibrant and shiny. Few minor scrapes here and there but it looks and works awesome. Killer boombox!
