How often does this happen ? ! A one owner 1958 Fender P-Bass with no stories . . . None ! Every screw, tuner and part on this is exactly what left the Fullerton Factory with it in late 1958. The finish on both the neck and body is 100% original. No refinishing, overspray or touch ups.
Now for the best part; this bass plays and sounds AMAZING ! From the original 1958 Precision Bass pick up with a healthy read out of 11.88k, to the very comfortable 1.725 inch nut width. This bass checks all the boxes. Built in late 1958, it does not have the raised A string pole piece magnets that early configuration often results in uneven string to string balance. When playing this bass unplugged, it is surprisingly loud and resonant.
The CTS (137) 250k audio volume and tone pots both date to the 25th week of 1958. The week and year date code can be clearly seen on both controls. The body is dated 11/58 in the pick up cut out and the neck is dated 12-58. The back of the pick guard is signed by electronic assembler "MellX". We've seen this on other Fender basses. The truss rod works perfectly with plenty of room for adjustment either way. This bass has the original factory bone nut in good condition. It weighs just under 9 lbs. It has light to moderate fret wear, as you would expect from a bass over 60 years old. The Fender tweed case being sold with this bass was bought in the early 80s. The original case was in 2 parts and no longer functioned as a case.
Is this the "ultimate" vintage Fender Precision bass ? It just may be ! This bass has been played, the good ones get played. Our photos show it all. They have not been altered, edited, photo shopped or touched up in anyway. Any questions call Steve 860-529-1930
