RARE, VINTAGE, 1965, Made in Japan, ZenOn Model ES70. A beautiful offset solid body guitar with futuristic wave pickguard, laminated body. Two tone sunburst finish moves over the body to the neck and headstock.

The thick neck is bolt on, maple with bound rosewood fretboard. Full 25.5" scale length. The headstock has six inline tuners typical of 1960s Japanese guitars. The pickups are gold foil and have great frequency response which gives them a real shimmer and plenty of top end (check out the video!). The pickups "float" on top of the pickguard with foam spacers. The bridge is a classic early sixties, a plastic "floating bridge" with adjustment on the base plate for slight string height changes. The electronics are also classic 1960s Japanese with rocker ON/OFF switches and volume control for each pickup, with a master tone knob.

FULL DISCLOSURE. PLEASE NOTE: if you watch the video, the person playing the guitar is not me, and the guitar is the same brand and model, but NOT THE EXACT SAME GUITAR offered in this listing. I did not make this video. This video is available for FREE on YouTube along with many other videos and is used here only as an example of what this model electric guitar sounds and looks like.
To my knowledge this guitar is all original except for the foam under the pickups, a new set of strings, a reproduction metal headstock logo, and a few screws hidden under the tailpiece cover. The G String tuning machine head has a slightly bent button knob stem (that has no effect on string tuning). The neck is straight, with a few dead spots above the 15th fret (the bridge can be raised, but I prefer the lower action for open chording). The guitar neck is reinforced with a NON-adjustable internal steel rod. There is age/humidity checking of the finish over the entire body (see final two listing photos). There are a couple short, small, fine cracks in the pickguard near the Tone knob and input jack that have been glued from the reverse side to prevent spreading.

All of my guitars have been fully tested and are functional. All of my guitars have been “set up” (neck straightness adjusted when possible, fingerboard oil treated (if rosewood/laurel/ebony), action set, pickup height optimized, intonation checked) to MY PERSONAL PREFERENCES (as LOW as possible). Please note: “setups” are not “one size fits all”. Your personal set up requirements might be different from mine, so, additional adjustments may be needed to suit your setup preferences. To protect the guitar from damage, the string tension will be relieved before shipping per Reverb.com requirements. You'll need to tune the guitar to pitch when it arrives. Let the instrument acclimate to your environment! Differences in altitude and temperature from my shop to your location have an effect on the instrument. You will NOT be able to pull this instrument out of the shipping box and start playing it!

Also, for optimal sound and playing ease, I advise buyers to put a new set of strings on the guitar, the string brand and gauge of their preference. If your guitar has a Tremolo Bridge DO NOT OVERTIGHT TREMOLO ARM WHEN YOU INSTALL THE ARM!!! YOU CAN DESTROY THE TREMOLO ARM BLOCK!!! I suggest you watch some YouTube videos about installing and using Tremolo Arms BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO INSTALL AND USE A Tremolo Arm.
