Rare Vintage Newburgh USA White Steinberger GM4T- TransTrem - Jeff Babicz Restored

Rare original Newburgh GM4T in white. A great example of the first version of the GM series which grew to be Steinberger's most successful bolt-on. All of the restoration work was completed by Jeff Babicz, who was the former head of production at the Newburgh Steinberger factory. Jeff re-fretted and mirror-polished the frets, and he serviced the electronics. Jeff rebuilt the TransTrem with new bearings/spring and burnished the roller saddles, so the TT tremolo now transposes correctly and returns to zero accurately. The TransTrem works as advertised. Allows you to lock the bridge, and acts as the most musical tremolo on Earth. Bar none. This is NOT a near-mint collectors' guitar! It has the very common neck- body joint cracking that we see very often (see photos). Easy to understand why this happens so frequently. In any case, this is only cosmetic and does not affect the structural strength or stability of the guitar. If you're a serious player and you plan to play this guitar, the full Babicz restoration means you'll be playing a perfectly performing Steinberger with brand new frets, rebuilt TransTrem and active EMG pickups.
