1958 MULLARD GOLD SAUCER OC44 PNP GERMANIUM TRANSISTORS RANGEMASTER PEDAL KINGS!

Sorry, this listing has sold out.

Sold Out!

Last year Jext Telez found a few hundred original Yellow Jacket Mullard OC44.  These were used in the Dizzy Tone pedals and a small run of Analogman Beano Boosts.  The owners of these pedals have had magnanimous declarations about the greatness of those transistors.

This year Jext Telez returned to that secret well and dug deeper.  What we found is just as sacred and great-- a few hundred NOS Mullard Gold Saucer OC44.  These are as rare as the Yellow Jackets.  The major pedal builders who have used them have declared their value-- sounding like a perfect Black Glass OC44:

"The can type package is known to be much more consistent than the black glass package which I assume is why Mullard made their mil-specs this way.
It has "Mullard" stamped around the circumference which looks really cool.  More amazingly though, it still sounds just like the black glass OC44s."
                                                                                                                                                                                                       --California Valveworks
"The Mullard gold saucers sound awesome. Fat midrange, tons of bottom. Rock machinery."
                                                     --Al Sutton, Acme Audio
We now offer to you these great Gold Saucers.  Using an Atlas DCA55 we have measured them and here is the available Hfe value and quantity available:
                                                 Hfe Range:                                         Quantity Available:

                                                   70-77                                                     25

                                                   Below 60                                                 a few

Nearly every transistor showed zero or no leakage.  Every once in a while one would show a very small amount of leakage-- talking 1 of 30.

Checking out is a two stage process.  First buy the quantity you want.  Then contact us after (or just add a note when checking out) and request which value range and what quantity you wish to buy.  We will update the quantity available as they go.

We have tried many of these in Rangemaster designs now and had prominent Detroit guitarists in to hear them.  The presiding vibe is if you like what a Black Glass OC44 does to a Rangemaster-- low mid presence, woolly flavors of dirt-- then you will love the Gold Saucers which present the same flavors as Black Glass OC44-- or even take that vibe another notch up.  They are low mid rich-- punchy,  full, slightly rolled off on top (this may just be your ear hearing the low mids more).  Very cool saturation and distortion characeristics.

Like the Yellow Jackets-- when these are gone that's it.  Stashes like this just aren't out there anymore.

Best,
JEXT TELEZ

--ONE PRICE FOR SHIPPING.  BUY 1 or 20-- ONE LOW PRICE.

--NO RETURNS, SORRY, AFTER MEASURING THESE AND TRYING 20 to 30 OF THESE OUT IN CIRCUIT NOT ONE OF THEM WAS BAD.  OUT OF THE FEW HUNDRED WE GOT 2 WERE BAD and THE DCA55 FOUND THOSE.  INCREDIBLE BATCH!

--THIS IS NOT A MONEY MAKING VENTURE BUT A SERVICE TO THE PEDAL BUILDING COMMUNITY.  THAT IS-- WE PAID FOR THESE APPROX. WHAT WE ARE ASKING.  PLEASE CONSIDER THIS BEFORE ASKING FOR DISCOUNTS.

--THE PIN OUT IS COLLECTOR BASE EMITER LIKE MOST GERMANIUM-- the TAB on the side of the transistor signifies the EMITER side.
