About This Listing

Here we have a very special Roland Juno 106 synthesizer for sale. Looking for the nicest, most reliable overhauled Juno on the internet? Look no further. Open to trades.

Let’s be honest, there’s a lot of junker Juno’s out there right now and these are getting up there in age. But Of all The JUNOs that are for sale out there right now, none are as clean, well kept, totally restored and well taken care of in this one.

Comes with modern modifications (listed below), cordura gig bag (new with rages), 3 prong power cable and printed manual. Free stand when picked up locally.

I bought this from the original owner in Jan 2022. The guy I bought it from was gifted this synthesizer in 1984 from his father, which he chose over a car! He clearly respected it and never abused it and it’s been sitting for a long time so he recently fired it up and discovered that some of the voice chips had failed so he replaced all of them with “Analouge Renaissance” voice chips. He is an IPC-610 certified for “through-hole and surface mount” soldering repair so he was able to do it as professional as it gets. Solder flux has been scrubbed and the board was actually re-tuned and calibrated after the work was done! Most boards that have voice chips serviced are not recalibrated for the new chips and therefore are not as fat and rich sounding as they can be. This one was serviced properly after the work was done and I have to say, it sounds a lot better than any of the other Junos we have had, for this reason. I wish I knew how to tune these things myself but I do not. Thankfully, the repair tech did it for us both.

When I received it I scrubbed it clean and did some more modifications to it. I took off every single button and key and used a tooth brush with warm water, baking soda and dish soap to scrub away 40 years of grime. It now looks like new. I’d say about 95% of the units on the Internet right now have scratches on the metal face plate. The problem with these is they are made of a rusting metal, so when they get a scratch on the silk screened faceplate it immediately turns to brown rust. This unit has no scratches to speak of, as you can see from the pictures. It is quite a rare gem.

During the repair of this unit, the primary concern was electronics reliability, so this was the focus point such as Drop testing, freezing, heating, shaking, electronic assemblies to perform “highly Accelerated Life Testing” (HALT) testing. We no longer socket the voice chips because as you’ve probably heard, it is proven that loose sockets lead to an early life failure on the board. Sockets oxidize in a matter of a few short years, creating a barrier between the chip legs and the socket that can lead to intermittent failures. I didn’t want that for the end user of the keyboard so these new chips (which will certainly outlive us all) are soldered directly to the pcb as they should be. If you do not buy this particular board, I strongly recommend that you avoid socketed voice chips for this reason (in addition, they can come loose if bumped and ruin a live performance/recording performance in the middle of playing!).

When I received the board I opened it up and it looks absolutely fantastic. I am also a technician as you can see from my other listings, so I was pleasantly surprised that everything is there and a lot more has been serviced then was listed originally. The unit has been factory reset and features full midi connectivity. A few of the fader sliders have been replaced and the LED bulbs as well. Some of the tactile switches were also serviced. According to my multimeter, the power supply works like brand new and exhibits zero hum. If you’re looking for one of the best ones you can get on the web, look no further. It literally sat in a certified technicians personal home recording studio since 1984 and now it sits in my shop in flawless condition. This is a very special keyboard looking for a very special home.

Thanks for looking ~ Open to trades of any kind. Any questions please ask. Pick up available in the New York City area: Our studio is located 20 minutes from Manhattan in northern New Jersey.

Comes with power cord and will be packed EXTREMELY SECURELY. Does not come with the bunch of broken parts in the last image, that’s there just to show you a key and the voice chips were in fact changed from Syntaur. I am a five star preferred seller with not a single review less than five stars in my entire career selling equipment on Reverb. I treat my equipment and my customers with a white glove. If there’s anything you need, training on the unit or advice of any kind or anything at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I am quite literally on Reverb all day, here to serve however I can. Thanks again, stay safe out there ~
