The SQ-180 is based on the Gibson “Star” Don Everly (Everly Brothers) Signature Series and is a rare mid-jumbo sized acoustic.

These SQ-180’s were manufactured from 1986 to 2006 (more details below).
Based on the serial number the guitar was made in Korea in November 1990, Production Number 446 (source: )

During its time of production this guitar saw 3 headstock variations:

  • Open-book style (1986-1990)
  • Clipped-ear (1991-2000 & 2002-2004)
  • Elongated traditional (2006)

This guitar is the earlier and original Open-Book style (1986-1990) which correlates to the serial number dating of 1990

During its time of production this guitar saw a number of headstock inlay variations:

  • Epiphone By Gibson logo with no inlay (1986-1989)
  • Epiphone scripted logo with crown inlay (1990)
  • Epiphone modern logo with crown inlay
  • Epiphone 1960's style logo with crown inlay
  • Don Everly signature (2006)

This guitar features the Epiphone scripted logo with crown inlay from 1990 which also correlates with its serial number.

As you can see from the photos provided, this guitar is in good cosmetic condition with the only notable point being a small ding/dent on one side which can be seen detailed in the last 3 photos that I have provided. Obviously this is purely cosmetic and in no way impairs the sound or performance of the guitar.

The guitar has been restrung and tuned up with fresh new strings prior to auction.

EPIPHONE began making the Don Everly SQ-180 (MODEL EAQ1) in the early 1980s. The Epiphone SQ-180 was an authorised version of the 1962 Gibson Everly Brothers flat-top acoustic with its thin J-185 style body, star inlays and double tortoiseshell pickguards. This model was referred to in earlier catalogs as simply the SQ-180 - but when the Neil Diamond SQ-180 was introduced in 1999 they had to start calling this one Don Everly SQ-180 to differentiate it. It finally discontinued in 2006. The peghead shape and logo changed in 1989 and again in 2002 and by 2006 there was a Don Everly signature on the peghead.
