Up for sale is a super bad and incredibly rare 1985 left handed Gibson Explorer in very good vintage condition and perfect working order. We just gave it a pro set up with 10-46 gauge strings so it plays amazingly with a straight neck, low action and the original Dirty Fingers humbucking pickups sound killer! Just to state the obvious, you NEVER see these left handed Explorers come up for sale. They only made them in 1985 and didn’t make many.
Cosmetically, this instrument is really clean and has been well taken care of over the years but does exhibit some play wear that’s consistent with its age. Just the usual culprits such as: tiny dings scattered around, swirl marks, light scratches in the clear coat, chips and finish checking. The original frets look great with no real discernible wear and the fingerboard is ebony. Looks like it’s hardly been played. See pics for condition and please excuse any reflections .
To the best of our knowledge, this instrument appears to be 100% with the exception of the brass nut. The solder joints are untouched and the original CTS pots date to 1984. The serial number dates the guitar as being made in 1985. Comes with the original hard shell case. The guitar weighs 8lbs 15.7oz. The nut width is 1.71”. The neck thickness is .790” at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th fret. The neck pickup reads 15.42K and the bridge reads 15.79K.
