🔥 Old Violin Labeled “Aegidius Kloz 1739” Klotz
This violin is old and a very petite 4/4 Violin. Very thin or narrow ribs. Arching is like amati period. The violin is setup with an imported Akousticus Tailpiece, dominant-esk strings, Guarneri Chinrest, Hill Style pegs. The current string action is extremely low. You can almost blow on it and make it play. I will include a bridge blank if the buyer wants a more orchestra height of action. It has had many repairs through its existence as you can tell. I do not know the age of the instrument or if Aegidius or who made it. I believe probably not by him but IMO I think it could be old Mittenwald work based upon the ribs and the old ebony insert at the button area. I say all of this simply, it is sold as is. I believe the violin has been at some point over coated or even refinished. The peg box has been bushed. I haven’t noticed a graft, the current setup string length is about 325mm. The corners are blunt and worn. There’s been some old repair work around the button at some point. I’ve been playing on it today and I’m surprised at its power and darkness for an arched instrument. It’s powerful and deep. Non schill. I will ship it in a case for extra protection. The violin has seen a lot in its day but it’s still here! Ships Worldwide! God Bless!
