Offbeat Guitars "Priscilla" Bass in Avocado Metallic Relic lacquer on distressed and dyed Catalpa featuring a Warmoth J-style Neck, EMG Geezer Butler PJ Passive Pickups, Gotoh Res-O-Lite Tuners, Gotoh Vintage Style Solid Brass Bridge, DR Hi-Beam Strings, and Aged Solid Brass Pickguard and Dome Knobs.
Your band mates will be green with envy when you show up to rehearsal sporting this killer bass. And they'll be doing the Wayne's World, "I'm not worthy," chant once they hear you play it.
The body is made of Catalpa, which is a North American hardwood (at least what we get) that is similar in tone and appearance to Swamp Ash. The back and sides have been distressed and dyed, and the front features an acrylic based metallic lacquer that's been given a tasteful relic treatment.
You don't have to be in a Black Sabbath tribute band (you could be, but you don't have to be) to appreciate the EMG Geezer Butler pickups which cover pretty much any genre of music. My favorite setting is to have the tone rolled off up to 50% and one of the pickups turned down just a smidge. That will give you either a more punchy P tone or a fuller, yet still nasally, J tone. It's just a very versatile setup.
The neck is manufactured by Warmoth for us and features stainless steel reinforced, dyed maple with a rosewood fretboard. The nut width is a Jazz bass sized 1.5", and the finish is a satin oil/poly blend. The low action and satin finish makes it a real joy to play.
A set of DR Strings Hi-Beam stainless steel strings runs between a Gotoh vintage style, solid brass bridge over a Graph Tech TUSQ nut to a set of Gotoh Res-O-Lite tuners.
The bass weighs in at a respectable 8.8 lbs. (That brass pickguard is heavier than it looks.) And it balances perfectly on a strap.
You don't have to admit this to anyone, but if you buy this bass, you are going to stand in front of the mirror with it at least once. There's no shame in that. She's gorgeous after all.
The bass comes with a 20mm padded Gator G4 gig bag.
