I was digging through my Fender parts box looking for some old flats and realized I must have sold one of my early Precision basses without the bridge cover. Based on my collection over the years this cover is likely from a mid 60's through an early 70's P bass and it is in very good shape including the rubber mute strip. The strip still mutes the E and A string but has shrunk enough that is does not touch
the D and G string (I tried it on my 66 which is shown in one of the photos) You can always get a reissue cover if you want the look but if you are restoring an mid 60's to early 70's bass this the real 50 year+ old deal in remarkable shape. Both my 66 and 71's mute strips turned into rock hard / oozing junk but this one has survived well.
