With a familiar shape and a couple less strings, the SG Bass from Gibson is a short scale powerhouse. Based on the legendary EB-3 basses from the early 60s, the SG bass is a more simple instrument than its predecessor with only a volume knob for either pickup and a master tone knob. The EB-3s were played by the likes of Jack Bruce who used one on Cream’s seminal Disraeli Gears album, and the oversized neck humbuckers are prized by player’s like Billy Sheehan. This piece is an awesome, no-nonsense rocker with a great sound and excellent playability. The sounds can be warm or raunchy, with plenty of pop when you want it. There is some decent play wear on the body and neck, but nothing too distracting and certainly nothing that hinders play. If you’re looking to add a short scale to the rotation, then don’t pass this one up! Ships in its original hardshell case.
