Up for sale is a beautiful and super rare left handed 1975 Rickenbacker 4001 Electric Bass in excellent vintage condition and perfect working order. We just gave it a pro set up with 45-100 gauge flatwound strings so it plays amazingly with a straight neck, low action and the original pickups sound killer!

Cosmetically, this instrument is insanely clean and has been well taken care of over the years. That’s kind of an understatement though. This is one of the cleanest 4001’s to ever come through the shop…and it’s left handed…and it’s white! You don’t see these very often, let alone one this clean.

There are a handful of tiny dings scattered around, some swirl marks and light scratches in the clear coat from handling. There’s also a bit of discoloration on the back towards the bottom of the bass and a small spot on the back of neck. More than likely, this is from it sitting in a stand over the years. Lastly, there’s one small chip in the finish on the back bottom of the bass. See pics for condition.

The original frets look great still with no real discernible wear. Frets look unplayed, just like the rest of the bass. To the best of our knowledge, this instrument is all original with the exception of the bridge saddles which are still un-notched. Strings stay in place just fine so we didn’t feel the need to do so. As it is on most vintage Ric basses, the bridge is lifting up in the back slightly on this one as well. This doesn’t affect anything and is purely cosmetic.

The original CTS pots date to either 1974 or 1975. Serial number (letters OL) dates to December of 1975. Comes with the original hard shell case which is as clean as the bass and the bridge pickup cover. The bass weighs 9lbs 5.6oz.
