For sale is a mint condition National Smith & Young Model 11 round neck guitar. It is in excellent playing condition and is set up with perfect action for regular or slide playing. As you may or may not know, Smith & Young was a brand of spider cone guitars made by Don Young and Eric Smith of National Resophonic. They made two models, the Model 1 (steel body) and the Model 11 which is a maple laminate. This guitars are meant to be a replica of the original Dobro spider cone guitars of the 30s with some modern improvements only these incredible guitar makers can make.
There is only 1 mark on this guitar on the top of the neck where it meets the body and is barely visible.
Unfortunately, this line was discontinued by National due to Don Young's health issues and National started promoting Scheerhorn guitars as their spider cone guitars. This guitar is #22 of this line making it one of the few that exist.
The guitar is also equipped with the Fishman Nashville Series Spider Resonator pickup (cost about $400 installed professionally).
NOTE: I would highly recommend using a Fishman Aura Jerry Douglas model imager with this guitar, it really brings out the best in ANY resonator with a Fishman pickup. They can be purchased usually for around $350 retail.
