Whether an instrument is new or used makes no difference, a set up is usually required. The banjo has a number of adjustments that are required to make it sound lively and easy to play, more than you might imagine: Proper tension to the head using the circling tension rods, setting proper neck angle with the internal coordinator rod, proper placement of the bridge for correct intonation, truss rod and nut adjustments. If a banjo is way out of adjustment, it can easily cost $100 or more to put it back in shape, but here's the good news! All this comes to you FREE when you purchase an instrument from us.
