Second release from Wintter Labs, Picumã is a fuzz pedal with unique and peculiar characteristics. Developed from a minimalist idea, it has simple and straightforward controls, created with the aim of making your user experience practically plug-and-play.
Sonically, Picumã flirts with sixties sounds, combining, through its Brasa and Cinzas keys, from a low gain effect that leaves your guitar sound creamy, filled, with great attack response, to a high gain effect with a lot of fuzz, heavy, dirty and burning, but with the same organic response.
Its circuit based on silicon transistors offers stability of use, while maintaining the historical characteristic of the effect.
Its commands are Fogo (Fire), Brasa (Ember) and Cinzas (Ashes), with Fire as the output volume control (no impact on effect gain). Brasa is the switch-driven transistor bias control. There are two fixed positions: upwards we have low gain, downwards we have high gain. Gray is the tone control: higher is lower tones, lower is higher tones.
In the Fire control, we have another special charm of this pedal. In partnership with the company Jacarandaz, we developed a unique, beautiful and very suitable wooden knob for our Picumã. The knob is 40mm in diameter and 17mm in height, is made of Riga Pine (from reused wood - aka demolition wood, taken from buildings from the time of the Empire, that is, a part of Brazilian history on its pedal), and it is finished with the Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban, where the wood is burnt on its surface to preserve it.
The name Picumã means “soot dirt” (among other meanings and slang), and it was revealed to me through a dream in a cold night, where I was embraced by black flames and it was possible to take the sound of fuzz in my hands , giving me the sensation of sound waves loaded with embers and ash.
For the user, Picumã, despite its simplicity of controls, offers a huge range of sounds. In addition to volume, gain and tone controls, Picumã is very responsive to the musician's attack, instrument volume, pickup types, and combinations with other pedals. This range of possibilities will allow the user to achieve his unique tone, even among other Picumã users! And that's all without worrying about countless control knobs that, when they get out of position, are very difficult to get right again.
