This is a Lyle S-726 model from the Matsumoku factory in Japan.  These are copies of the Gibson SG design, but very nice.
The good:  Funky little guitar with upgraded Hipshot locking tuners, refinished body, new custom pickguard, and new volume/tone knobs.  I got the guitar as a neglected project, and re-finished the body in a satin black finish.  I replaced the broken tuners with hipshot locking tuners.  There were originally two on/off switches for the pickups that were not working.  Replacements were not available, so I wired in a standard 3-way selector.  I did not change out the input jack or the pots, and left all of that wiring intact.  I also custom-cut a new pickguard using the same material thickness and exact shape of the original.  The pickups are very sweet-sounding and take to pedals very well.
The bad:  There is a small ding in the corner of the headstock.  It's cosmetic only and does not affect anything else.  If I were to keep this, I would probably replace the bridge with something more adjustable.  The input jack works fine, but I did notice if the cord had tension on it it could cut out occasionally.  I would probably replace that.  I wanted to leave as much of the original wiring as I could, so I have not changed that out.
This belonged to my neighbor for the last 20 years.  A friend convinced him to pick this up at a pawn shop, but it's been in a closet ever since.  He's an acoustic-only player, so he never really had a use for it.  I have no idea what kind of wood it is made of, but it has a pronounced grain pattern.  I think it took the black satin very well and I like the finish.  I could only find a few pictures of this model, and I tried to return it back as close as I could get to what I could find.  It's a nice little guitar, but I have too many random weird guitars and I can't justify keeping this one.
