Ideal for experienced players looking to build on their skills, the Grand J-16E 12 String is a full-bodied, muscular guitar that generates well-balanced harmonics with a strong, solid low end. We craft it in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, with East Indian rosewood back and sides and a Sitka spruce top, so this powerhouse looks as good as it sounds. We also added scalloped X-bracing to create beautifully resonant tone that fills the room even when unplugged. And, while playing a 12 string can be challenging, our high-performance taper neck makes this one comfortable-playing, big-sounding guitar.

The Martin Grand J-16E acoustic-electric bass is made with all-solid tonewoods to deliver a top-notch tone. The body features a Sitka spruce top that’s paired with East Indian rosewood back and sides. The spruce top adds extra note definition and a dash of brightness when you’re picking. Discerning players love this tonewood combination, and so will you.

When you play the Grand J-16E for the first time, you may notice that the body feels different from other Martin Jumbos. It retains the same rounded shoulder shape but is slightly thinner than normal. Instead of the traditional Jumbo body depth of 4-7/8 inches, Martin opted to give this guitar the depth of a 000: 4-1/8-inches. This change affects the guitar in two notable ways. First, the thinner body reins in the boomy bass response for cleaner recording. Second, it helps the guitar to create a more mid-forward response. Don’t fret, even with its new body depth, the Grand J-16E retains the same room-filling power that you’d expect from a Martin Jumbo.
