Lindberg (Chushin Gakki) guitar ~1973 made in Japan - Teisco/Kawai style

General introduction and background:

Rare Lindberg branded guitar. Made in Japan by Chushin Gakki according to my latest research. The same model exists also with the Maya and Yamato brand names, Maya being known as a Chushin brand name. Also another brand name found on these was Cimar, a brand well known for being owned by Hoshino Gakki, the owners of the Ibanez brand. Hoshino famously assigned Chushin Gakki with producing their Cimar-line of guitars (at least in the 1970s, if not 1980s). 

Lindberg was (and is) a big musical instruments store in Munich, Germany. In the 1960s, they first had archtop guitars made for them by German luthier R. Hoyer, and later when electric guitars became more fashionable, had guitars with their brand name produced in Japan, mostly LP copies, but also this one.

It is a nimble, light weight, small guitar which especially excels for open chords and twangy lines in indie or garage contexts.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-     Scale: 628 mm

-     Nut: ~42,5 mm

-     Weight: 2,58 kg

-     Pickups: two airy single coils, ~2,8 kOhm output, controlled by 1x Volume, 1x Tone, 2 slider switches.

-     Body: multiply body

-     Neck: Solid maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, vintage frets.

Condition:

-     Body: Good condition with some scratches, dings and dongs, and lacquer fissures especially in the neck pocket, which do not protrude into the wood though. 

-     Neck: straight neck, well adjustable with the trussrod. Frets are in great condition (like 8/10) with no crevasses and only little traces on the first fret. No buzz.

-     Electronics: fully functional. Volume and Tone potis have been cleaned.

-     Hardware: fully functional. Traces of corrosion remain.

-     Originality: all original state except some screws and the trem washer.

Sound and Playability:

-     Playability and string action: The guitar plays easily with a string action of currently set to 1,9 mm. The frets are low, narrow vintage frets, so you might want to consider that if you are used to broad, high modern frets.

 - Intonation: about right, the bridge is just a tin folded bar and doesn't allow individual intonation of each string.

-     Sound: very transparent, gorgeous airy singlecoil sounds. Please watch the video

Repairs, Service:

-     Complete cleaning of body, parts and fretboard

-     Frets polished and fretboard oiled

-    Full check of the electronics, the wiring is all ok.

-     New 10 gauge Pyramid strings put on

-     Set up as good as possible

-     Ready to be played (just tune it up)

-     No case included. Will be shipped in wrap and sturdy cardboard box.

Please allow 1-2 days from pick up for delivery in Germany, and 1-2 weeks within the EU. US, Canadian and over overseas buyers:  Shipping prices are of Fedex, which is expensive, but very reliable and delivers in ~3 days. Tracking is provided immediately when shipped out within the system. Please refrain from giving a review before you have received the guitar.

AFTER DELIVERY: After receiving the item, please inspect the package for obvious damages and make photos if there are any. After unpacking, check the item immediately for damages or other undocumented flaws. I accept a 14 days return and will pay for shipping if the item is in a different condition than described upon arrival. Please note that I will only take the item back entirely, but not grant any reduction of price and generally only accept returns if the item was unaltered after arrival.

CITES protection: all of the items I sell have been legally imported to the EU before January 1st 2017 and are registered with the authorities in Hamburg, Germany (if applicable).
