This is a Rare and Special sight to be seen. A factory-direct and complete 1972 Ludwig Hollywood Kit in Black Diamond Pearl with All-Original Supraphonic Snare, Cymbals, Stands, Cases, Trap Case and Hardware. And when I say all-original I'm talking down to the wingnuts. This is a true Closet Queen from a single, meticulous owner that stored the kit safely in cases for the last 40 years.
Cosmetically it is extremely clean, little to no pitting on the chrome and super shiny. There is a little wrap lift on the kick and floor tom but nothing of concern. Evidence that it was once played and loved but overall very remarkable condition. More remarkable is that everything has stayed together--from the lugs to the stands to the bass muffler to the Ludwig wrench, it's crazy. The Zildjan hats and crash are still in the original plastic bags! Even the cases are in Fantastic shape. All the zippers work, the naugahyde is quite smooth/supple while retaining the Ludwig logos. The trap case is strong as an ox and glides beautifully on the castors. You would need a time machine to find a comparable ensemble.
Finally unearthed after all these years, this set sings as beautifully as she shines. This drum set sounds absolutely amazing. A collector's dream and a studio-worthy workhorse, this kit should be making records.
