Fender American Stratocaster Plus 1987 Low E4 serial number.

An E4 series made in the USA Strat. But most gearheads know that E4 was also made in Japan anywhere from 1984 to possibly 1987.

 Well, "they had a bunch of leftover necks," or " they had a bunch of serial number decals left over," and brought those to use when they started up USA Production.

 So, just a simple change of location to a now made in the USA Strat? 

Maybe, but....that's a REALLY low serial number for an E4 Series in 1987, E41600X, (and that X is a low number)

 Then there is the matter of the Split Wilkinson nut, Sperzel locking tuners, two point Trem, and the Lace Sensor pickups.

 Fullerton vs Corona body, a whole additional layer of what the heck!

This body, from available visual references on the interwebs, is a Fullerton body.

The body date is 11-3-87 by "Pallares".

The neck date is 10-28-87 and is a "Gastellum".

 So.... very likely an early Fender Strat Plus from the first group in 1987 after CBS sold the company.

What I can say with 100% surety, is that this is a great playing and sounding Stratocaster.

Has been well played, and well loved. 

A few dents here and there on the body and neck, light scratches and markings, but no deep scratches into the wood, no chunks, nothing major in my opinion, nothing that affects feel at all. 

Great Sustain, quiet electronics, fantastic shape for a 30 year old instrument. 

Frets are in great shape.
