Welcome to another fine guitar from The Old Europe! Please make sure to read the entire description below carefully, and look at all the pictures.

General introduction and background:

Ultra, ultra rare Rodebald Hoyer guitar. The model appears in catalogues as "Alabama". Hoyer only made very few of them. This one is, according to the date stamp inside, from 1965. A big ship with awesome pickup sound.
Please watch the video!

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-     Scale: 640 mm

-     Nut: ~43 mm

-     Depth 6 cm - width 44 cm (17-18'')

-     Weight: 3,48 kg

-     Pickups: two airy single coils with low output, controlled by a 4 way rotary switch (off/1/2/both) a, volume poti, a tone rotary switch (subtle changes) and a Rhythm/Lead switch. The whole system was sourced from Schaller.

-     Body: sources claim that these were made of laminated maple back and sides and either a laminated or solid spruce or maple top.

-     Neck:  The neck looks like made of beech, with a rosewood fingerboard.

Condition:

-     Body: Great condition with a few scratches, dings and dongs. Please refer to the pictures for an overview.

-     Neck: straight neck, despite no adjustable trussrod being available. The neck is held by a screw and sits nice and tight in its pocket. It is a medium girth neck with a 4,3 cm nut.

-     Electronics: fully functional, yet the two pickups our out of phase when combined.

-     Hardware: fully functional.

-     Originality: all original except for the tuners and the ebony bridge. Also one of the rotary switches was missing and was replaced.

Sound and Playability:

-     Playability and string action: The guitar plays easily with a string action of currently set to 1,8 mm. The frets are in good condition with only slight dents and crevasses (7/10), and don't need a refret or fretjob any time soon, as there is no buzz and fretting out.

 - Intonation: about right, the bridge can be moved about to set it.

-     Sound: The 11 gauge Thomastik flatwoulds yield a soft, yet percussive tone when played acoustically;  Please watch the video for sound samples when played through an amp.

Repairs, Service:

-     Complete cleaning of body, parts and fretboard

-     Frets polished and fretboard oiled

-     New 11 gauge Thomastik flatwound strings put on

-     Set up as good as possible

-     Ready to be played (just tune it up)

Auxiliary stuff:

-     No case included. Will be shipped in wrap and sturdy cardboard box.
