A truly rare PRS SE custom semi hollow with USA made Bigsby trem. There was one run of about 100 of these made in 2012. They don't come up for sale often and this is the only one currently available on the internet. I had connections at PRS and was lucky enough to acquire one of these beautiful guitars when they were released.
My friends at the factory swapped the stock pickups for a 57/08 in the neck position and a 59/09 in the bridge, and a coil split control was added to the tone knob. This is the dream PRS pickup configuration/electronics set up and the reason that the price may seem high on this one, but read on...
I also own a PRS Starla from the same time with the Starla pickups (PRS-ertrons). I've always wanted to swap the pickups on the two guitars and make the semi hollow a little extra Gretschy and the Starla a little extra rock and roll, but never got around to it. This informs my pricing as such...
$900 for the guitar equipped with PRS Starla pickups. The USA Starla pickups and MD PRS factory installed coil split are still a vast improvement over the stock configuration.
$1200 for the guitar as is. This pickup config is probably the best PRS PAF style set with the brighter and cleaner 57/08 neck and the slightly beefier (but still PAF-y) 59/09 in the bridge. You can't even buy this pickup config for less than $350 and that involves searching for aftermarket 4 conductor 57/08s, which could take a while.
I'm also down to consider offers.
The guitar plays beautifully. Like a great PRS. Super even feel and sound across the neck. Wide/fat neck profile feels great. Low action. Light weight. This particular instrument sounds killer. An excellent gigging/recording guitar that has been my go to on sessions since the coil split works well for humbucking or single coil sounds. I'm straight up gonna miss it.
Cosmetically this guitar is very clean. From the front it's "excellent" per Reverb standards, except there's some light pickguard scratching as this was pretty much my main guitar from 2012-2015. There's some light scratching on the back of the body but nothing crazy or deep. Actually, the cleanest of any guitar I own. The only visible scratches are just a couple on the back of the body and they would only be seen if you were to hold it up to the light and look for them. The one exception to that is the one scratch on the back of the body down by the strap button that I tried to capture as best I could. Ironically this happened while taking these pictures. /-:
I can throw in a Road Runner gig bag, or I may even have an extra hardshell case lying around that would fit it. I've shipped many guitars in my life so it will get to you safely, ready to play, feeling and sounding great. Shipping costs are based on USPS, or UPS second day. Regular UPS will be about half the shipping estimate, so there's a little wiggle room there if you want to make an offer. Local pickup is always preferred, so again, wiggle room for an offer.
Thanks for reading! Hope you end up with this dope guitar.
