About This Listing

Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting..

A really cool and rather elusive Fender Guitar. It’s a Japanese made Heartfield RR9 in FROST RED! WOW!!

Not your typical guitar found at Lawman Guitars but its older and I had never seen or heard of these until a yellow one came around last month...Sold in about an instant... Grabbed this red one from my same finder...I think he has more!!!! Very cool guitar with lots of personality…

Be sure to check out the video demo we did for the yellow one last month...Not the same guitar but just like it!

These RR9 Heartfield guitars were only made from 1988 thru 1991. This one is dated to 1989 from the serial number stamped on the back of the headstock. See pics…

The guitar uses and active pickup that give it three different voices. In the first setting, it’s a single coil that almost sounds out of phase to my ears. Very unique tone. The second setting is a humbucker, which is very thick and tasty… The third setting is incredible. It activates an on board TS808 Tubescreamer that will blow your socks off. The crunch is preset and controllable by three small easily accessible trim pots in the control cavity. Distortion Circuit controls  are.. 1- Gain, 2- Tone, 3- Level … Quite a few sounds from this single pickup guitar.

This guitar has been around. It was played! Some bangs, dings, and scratches to be pointed out. The worse is on the lower bass bout. The previous owner touched it up a little. See pics 10...

Here’s some info I found on the internet regarding these cool guitars…

RR9

The RR9 (RR9D in Japanese documentation) has an alder body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard with dot inlays, a single Heartfield active humbucker, 22 frets and a fixed bridge with string-through-body design. The difference with the RR8 is that it has a Fender American standard tremolo and a 25 ½ inch scale neck length (but the same 12" (305 mm) neck radius).

It used to sell for $769.99 (75,000 Yen).

Heartfield color codes available for this guitar: Frost Red (577), Brite White (581), Yellow Sparkle (593) and Blue Sparkle (594).

First documented month of manufacture: July 1988. Last documented month of manufacture: November 1991. The guitar appeared in Fender Frontline first in spring 1990 (there are no earlier issues) and last in autumn 1993. This appears to make it (and the RR8) the Heartfield guitar longest in production.

We got this cool Heartfield from a collector that still has several of these. This guitar was played a lot but check those frets. Still in great condition. Truss rod works as it should, Neck is nice and straight. An absolute pleasure to play. All we did was clean it up a little and put a new set of 9’s on it.

We got this one in the shown Fender Gigbag...Used as well as the guitar but the zipper still works and its a cool Fender Case!

Sold as is no returns as its used, however, I have been hand picking my customer instruments for over 20 years now and they all loved the guitars I found them. This cool Fender Heartfield will certainly not be an exception.

Thanks for checking out our cool guitars, parts and gear.

Be sure to check out all of our video demos on our Lawman Guitars YouTube Channel.
