About This Listing

For sale is this very rare left-handed Japanese built Orville by Gibson Les Paul Standard. The "Orville by Gibson" guitars were a cut above the standard Orvilles and represented the top tier of Japanese construction, with USA Gibson pickups and hardware, and usually very nice figuring on the maple tops. They were built exclusively for the Japanese market and seldom seen outside the country of origin, this Orville is an official Gibson-licensed guitar and a result of a partnership between Gibson USA and their Japanese distributor Yamano Gakki. Named after Gibson's founder, Orville Gibson, this discontinued Orville model was crafted at the Terada factory. We don’t find many left-handed ObGs, very few lefties were ever made. This beautiful Standard has a Flamed and figured amberburst top and is in very nice condition. It has comfortable ’60 profile neck and is a nice light non-chambered weight at 3.8kg. It has a solid mahogany body and neck with a long neck tenon, solid maple cap, and a pair of factory-installed Gibson USA humbuckers. The pickups include a Gibson USA-embossed 490T in the bridge position, and a PAF (USA Gibson) neck pickup, in-line with a 490R. Both sound immense. The neck is dead straight, truss rod fine, some wear showing in the frets but plenty of life left in them, and it plays clearly on all registers. No issues whatsoever either electrically or structurally. We gave it a test run and it sounds great. Very, very clean for an early 90’s ObG. A couple of little nicks/bumps here & there & what looks like a little split in the 19th fret inlay. The inlays look like they may have been re-set at some point in it’s history. There are patches of wear and scratches over the guitar. The little specks you can see in the close up pics are just case fibres. It’s a good looking Les Paul with a lovely overall vibe. Absolutely no breaks or repairs etc. I’ll let the pics tell the rest of the story. Complete with period correct Japanese Tolex HSC. All pictures are of actual guitar, we do not use stock photos. NOT FOR TRADE or part exchange, thanks. We ship to the E.U, Europe, U.S, Canada, Australia, Singapore and of course the UK.
