Alvarez Classical - Early 1970’s Made in Japan 🇯🇵! - Gorgeous Guitar! - CLEAN! -

Damn! This thing is CLEAN! Hard to believe it’s survived all these years as a great guitar and lived to tell the tale in the condition that it’s in, it’s a beautiful guitar from the golden age of Japanese guitar production!

The early 70’s Alvarez guitars that were made in Japan are totally awesome. They had super skilled luthiers, the best tools made out of Japanese steel, the best woods to work with, all the ingredients were there. There’s a razor sharp precision to their workmanship and also an undeniably deep soulful presence, they really cared about creating a well made instrument someone could compose their best music on. This one you pick up and everything just flows out of it effortlessly, it’s immediately comfortable.

As an instrument this thing delivers just about everything I want from a nylon string songwriting guitar. It sounds very sweet with a gorgeous midrange. I love that beautiful golden spruce top! Even though this has obviously been kept away in a case unplayed for years the top has oxidized into that beautiful golden color. The fretboard and bridge are also made out of nicely figured and attractive rosewood, and that rosette has some classic 70’s shag carpet vibes as well. It plays like a dream with super low and comfortable action, really nice and vibrant string response as well. It sounds really beautiful and sweet, great for Joni Mitchell fingerpicking where everything sounds as clear as a bell. The neck is straight as an arrow, the fretwork is beautiful, every position plays perfectly. It’s what I call a true “clear path” guitar where there’s nothing between yourself and the music you want to make, seriously!

It’s pretty rare to find one of this in such a nice guitar in such great condition, usually the good ones have been played to death but this one feels like it’s starting it’s life for the first time right now. There’s a few tiny scuffs here and there, but for the most part you would swear you’re looking at a new guitar and not one that’s close to 50 years old. It’s awesome. Great instrument!
