This is a luthier built reproduction of Django Reinhardt's famous Selmer #503 guitar I commissioned. Built by Ari Jukka of AJL Guitars in Finland, it has gorgeous Brazilian back and sides with a European spruce top and a Turkish walnut neck. I asked Ari to make this one as close as possible to Olli Soikkeli's guitar and as it turned out, he still had enough wood left from Olli's to make this one, so it has the same figuring in the grain, as well as the identical appointments, etc. Its a very light guitar.

This guitar cost me over $6,000.00 new plus another $500 in import taxes. But I have 5 gypsy guitars, and I just bought a 1940s Busato, so its time to cull the herd down some.

This guitar is in very good condition and comes with three bridges and the CITES paperwork. It has some pick wear on the top in a couple of places that are clearly observable in the pictures, otherwise it is great condition.

"Many are surprised to find that some of the best Selmer Maccaferri style guitars in the world are not built in Paris, but rather in the far north of Finland by the skilled luthier Ari-Jukka Luomaranta. Made famous by the legendary Swedish guitarist , AJL guitars have found their way into the hands of Gypsy jazz guitarists worldwide. AJL is known for his meticulous attention to detail, deep knowledge of traditional building techniques, and replica hardware which is second to none."
