1885 Martin 0-28 w/ original coffin case!
Very good condition, with age estimated from "6-1885" is written in pencil on the underside of the top, lack of serial number, "C.F. Martin & Co, New York" on back brace and "C.F. Martin, New York" on back of non-slotted headstock, ivory friction tuners, and lack of fingerboard inlays. Adirondack spruce top, beautifully figured Brazilian rosewood back & sides, genuine elephant ivory binding, nut, saddle, bridge pins, strap button, neck heel cap, and tuners. Very little wear for such an old instrument. Some damage repairs have been done to the back (see photos), but overall very good. "VIIII" in pencil near the neck block. Neck and saddle are sound, and the guitar has good, playable action, and sounds fantastic! Includes both the original Martin wood "coffin" case, which has been repaired, and a modern TKL arch-top hard shell case as well. A remarkable piece of guitar history!
