Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome.
You are looking at an unique, rarer Astatic WR-20 dual crystal microphone from the 1950's era that comes with an original Astatic push to talk "G" model microphone desk stand shown in which to display.
Pic # 2 is from an old Astatic catalog I have showing the mics basic characteristics. The WR-20 was a fairly sophisticated set up that pushed the boundaries of crystal technology and was a top of the line Astatic model.
The WR-20 and WR-40 model mics were virtually identical in design except that the 40 series has a stronger output because of the extra two crystal elements and cost 25% more than the 20 series Astatic mic when they were both manufactured.
This microphone has the unique dual stack crystal element arrangement set up and while they no longer work the elements are still present and firmly in place. I have left the mic alone as the elements are undisturbed but there is plenty of room to upgrade to something nicer if one wants?
As you can see the cosmetics are pretty good with typical lite cosmetic wear. The satin chrome finish shows wear but has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out. The polished chrome frame shows far less wear however and free of any damage. No pitting, dents or scratches. The black cloth screens are perfect with zero holes or rips. No fading and the color is dark and even. The Astatic badge looks very good and is completely legible. The clutch mechanism has plenty of resistance and you can tilt the mic forward and backward at will without any slippage.
MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE...
It's an early style "push to Talk G model stand. Like the mic the stand is non-functioning and will need to be rewired if you plan on using it with a working astatic mic. It does have the original paint with typical heavier wear but the chrome is quite beautiful for being 80 + years old. The riveted badge shows it's early age and looks good.
This stand makes for a very stable platform and compliments the mic. The stand has a short cable with an old female 1/4 inch end connector to complete the look. The felt pad on the bottom is original as well. Shows wear but still does it's job great. Total height with mic and stand is appx 14 inches tall X 6 inches wide.
This mic will really stand out in the vintage mic collection. Display it proudly anywhere in the home, office or studio.
