Amazing Tokai Love Rock, high-quality Japanese replica of a '58-'60 Gibson Les Paul.
This one has the "lawsuit" headstock, one-piece mahogany neck, one-piece rosewood fingerboard, solid maple top, deep top carve, solid mahogany back (w/ no Swiss cheese holes or chambers), full-size pots, and it is in excellent shape minus the dings around the input jack (pictured).
For those in the know, high-end Tokais have offered quality that meets or exceeds contemporary Gibsons. Billy Gibbons anyone? I'd place this well above the standard USA production Les Pauls, right up there with Historic R8s, R9s, and R0s. And I love plaintops, call me crazy. Just an absolutely fantastically-crafted Japanese rock guitar stock; but here's a list of the upgrades:
- Bare Knuckle Stormy Monday pickups, shiny nickel covers
- Throbak unaged bone rings
- lightweight aluminum tailpiece (nickel-covered)
- Gibson ABR-1 nickel bridge, saddles cut for this guitar, and brass thumbwheels
- Gibson Historic Kluson Deluxe tuners
- Gibson Historic truss rod cover
- Switchcraft 3-way switch
- Dead Mint Club amber unaged switch tip
- deep-knurl switch ring
- Gibson Historic strap buttons
- '60-style silver reflector knobs (smooth, not CD looking)
- Gibson Historic pointers (sharp, not rounded)
- Creamtone square input jack
- Gibson Historic flathead pickguard screw from a 2009 R8
- Replaced all wood screws with Made in USA nickel screws
- 2009 Gibson Historic hard case
- Complete professional setup by Goez Instrument Repair
I'll also include the set of 10-46 Rotosound strings that came with the Bareknuckle pickups, a case humidifier, the original 2-hole Japanese Tokai truss Rod cover, and some Gibson picks.
You do not want to miss out on this one. I put a ton of effort and money into really dialing this in, and I would put it up against any Gibson Historic USA Les Paul. Weighs a little over 9 lbs, and just sings. Great top end, but not harsh, and plenty of lows and mids. Just a killer, no-excuses rock guitar.
I will refund any excess shipping cost, and will ship UPS with insurance.
If you want to save a little dough, I could also swap the pickups for Gibson 57 Classics, put back the stock tailpiece, put the original TRC on, put the stock rings back on, put a Gibson Historic switch top on, etc. Your call.
Also available for local pickup if you're around St. Louis, MO.
Please let me know if you have any questions, comments or thoughts, or if would like additional photos. Thanks!
