Up for sale is a rare treat: a 1914 Martin Style OO Bowlback Mandolin signed by Frank Henry Martin himself!
This beautiful instrument is serialized 4211, dated 3/24/14, and initialed "F. H. M." on the underside of the top. It is great condition for 107 years old. The top is flat with no signs of any top collapse or cracks. The nine Brazilian Rosewood ribs that make up the back are in good shape as well, with no separations. The bridge and hardware appear original as well. The original finish is intact, though it has begun to "ghost" on the headstock and on a few other places on the instrument. Please see pictures for additional cosmetic details.
The instrument is set up well and only needed the fret ends dressed by our repair department when it came to us. The neck is straight and has the sweet, bright sound that makes well-made bowlbacks so desirable.
Serialized 4211
A hard case of newer vintage is included.
