It has the vertical small wood block installed between the top and the back under the bridge.

Hardware: 100% original gold hardware, including twin Guild HB-1 humbucking pickups; engraved harp tailpiece; Grover Rotomatic tuners; compensated ebony bridge; beveled art deco stairstep pickguard; volume and tone controls; master volume control; 3 way pickup selector switch; adjustable truss rod.

Notes: Introduced in 1953, the Guild Stuart X-500 remained the top of the Guild electric line for over four decades, and incorporates design features from a number of its ultra-premium competitors. In 1953 to was meant to compete with the Epiphone Zephyr Deluxe Regent. The Stuart X-500 features a 17" Venetian cutaway laminate body, mounted pickups and controls, deluxe multiply binding and gold hardware throughout. From Epiphone's Emperor, the X-500 adapted the abalone/pearl V-block fingerboard inlay. The art-deco stair-step pickguard is inspired by the D’Angelico pickguards.

The X-500 proved to be a very popular model, remaining in the Guild lineup for many years. The master volume control knob was added shortly after new style humbuckers with tilt adjustment in 1971.

In 1963, the X-500 model was equipped with humbucking pickups, and a master volume control appeared by 1971. This example is a product of the Rhode Island factory, where Guild enjoyed its greatest years, from 1966 until its closing in 2001. A classic working jazz box, the X-500 has a sleek neck profile and a full-depth highly figured body that is warmly resonant with enhanced feedback resistance.

The fingerboard is solid ebony with abalone and pearl split-block inlays. This example is is very fine to excellent condition with a sunburst finish, and it is without pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. There is no finish checking, sometimes found in instruments of this vintage. The bridge height and action are both excellent. There is one injury to the binding (see the photo).

This example has a gentle D neck profile with smooth low action, having just been setup by my luthier who installed new Bella strings. With this type of setup the guitar produces a warm classic tone. The X-500 is a pro-quality jazz box, but much more, as it can be used for practically all types of guitar song genres: jazz, rockabilly, rock and folk.

Case: The guitar sleeps in a brand new TKL plush lined deluxe limited edition case worth $250 which fits the guitar like a glove.

Shipping: $175 second day air to continental United States. International buyers need to query me first about shipping cost.

The video demo link is not my guitar, but is close to the model in date.
