Nicholas Maline l, was a member of the French Maline family who were renowned for their excellent bows. As evidenced by this instrument they also made superb violins as evidenced in the craftsmanship of this. This has a one piece back and a tightly grained top. Its voice is harmonically rich with excellent projection and sonorous resonance. This was made ca. 1870 and is in truly excellent condition. Maline violins are rare and command serious prices at auction.
