Yamaha SCC 500 -

Here is an awesome, Yamaha guitar from the early 80's. This model was only made for three years in Japan but is mostly recognized and famous for its use by Jerry Garcia of The Grateful Dead.

It looks a bit like a Strat and and a SG put together. It is fairly thin and light, has a set-in neck with 3-on-a-side tuners, and has a hard tail -- all qualities of a typical SG.

25-1/2" scale
21 frets
Three single coil pickups (Bridge pickup was replaced for a Seymour Duncan Hot rail.

All this qualities made this guitar the perfect súper Strat.

There are some unique features as well.

Instead of a typical Strat blade style pickup 5 way selector switch, there are three individual ON/OFF mini-toggle switches, each dedicated to a pickup. These mini-toggle switches allow for any combination of pickups to be selected, including the very useful "all on" and "all off" selection. There's just one volume and one tone control, but with the tone control potentiometer doing double-duty as a push-pull switch that switches the pickups between parallel and series wiring.

These large Yamaha single coil blade pickups have more output than standard Strat pickups, but they still exhibit great harmonic content.

The Fretboard, neck profile, and set-neck joint are heavily influenced by an SG.

A heavy one-piece bridge / tailpiece is a solid piece of hardware allowing easy and accurate intonation.

The guitar has one dent on the bottom just look the pictures…

Includes the original vintage Yamaha Hardcase with a lot of stickers and the handle is Broken.

This inspection Includes Cleaning and Refreshing all the parts of the instrument, Electronic, Pots, Switch, Jack, Frets, New Strings And full Setup With very low Action.

This is a used instrument and does show some signs of slight use, but has been fully tested and functions as expected. Please take a moment to review our pictures, as they accurately portray the true condition of the instrument.

*For your protection all purchases over $99 will be shipped signature required and Full Insurance.
