About This Listing

This is the perfect flamenco guitar! Built by the great master Francisco Barba, played by the great Antonio Rey.

Francisco Barba is regarded as one of the best guitar makers ever and his guitars have been (and are) praised and used by some of the best guitarists in the world: Niño de Pura, Manuel Molina, Rafael Riqueni, Pepe Habichuela… and so many others.

The woods on this flamenco guitar are of the top existing quality. The top is made of German spruce, with an outlined grain, straight and smooth, that endorse its exceptional quality. The back and sides are made of cypress, an aesthetically marvelous wood due to its tones and grain shapes, providing the guitar with great beauty and elegance. The edging work details and finishing are simply perfect.

Its sound is really marvelous. To be honest, it is one of the best flamenco guitars we have ever had in our shop. It has some special features and nuances, where the flamenco sound of this luthier can be definitely found. The basses are deep and roaring, and the trebles, bright and crystal clear, with a sustained sound that sees itself amplified by the wide variety of harmonics that come from all its notes along the fretboard.
It can be caressed to draw out a beautiful, singing lyricism but when pushed just right it growls as an old world flamenco.

This flamenco guitar has got medium tension, and a reduced height of strings at the saddle and fingerboard, providing the guitarist with a high degree of comfort for both hands, as well as an easy performance.
The scale length is 653 mm and the nut width 52 mm.

The guitar has finetuning pegs from Peghed, these work as normal tuners, but look like historical wooden pegs.

The condition of this guitar is good - it has been very professionally restored by the great luthier Jesus de Jimenez.
