ADS L780 80’s Black

Ok, I’ve owned a LOT of ADS speakers over the years. In fact, I believe I’ve owned every model ever sold in the US and many of the Braun EU comparable models. This is the cleanest pair I’ve ever had or seen.

I bought these from the estate of the original owner, they were bought new, and installed by the retailer 35 years or so ago, they were placed in a purpose built cut out in the wall, way up high, wired in and not moved since. They were a bit dusty, but aside from a few little scratches on the bottom from being slid in place, they’re immaculate, complete and clean as a whistle. They of course also work flawlessly.

This is a terrific speaker, 8.3” woofer (these are of course all German made drivers by Braun so the size is actually like 210mm). The paper coned, butyl surrounded woofer had a lot of cabinet volume and is configured as an acoustic suspension, it is dead on accurate, bass isn’t huge but precise and especially with a modern subwoofer very sweet and has great added detail. Speaking of detail, the classic ADS mid / tweeter combo is as meticulously accurate as usual and sounds stunning. Again, these are about the cleanest I’ve ever seen these drivers, not covered in fuzz. Every thing sounds wonderful and solid. The grills are also in excellent shape, they even have the little pull tabs that come off when removed and the fabric screen liner.

This is about as good as a pair of L780’s will ever get.

Shipping will be a little pricey but they will be packed in new boxes, completely sealed, double boxed, fully insured. I’ve been packaging nice speakers for a very long time, they will arrive safely.
