Stiehler Left-Handed Les Paul Bass (Custom 109)
I had this bass commissioned in 2008 by Christian Guitar Works (Stiehler Guitars), a luthier company based out of Carson City, Nevada. The bass is a tribute to the '55 Les Paul in shape, materials, and pick-ups. This design was later used for several more basses created by Stiehler, but this one is the original. Stiehler and I had several months of correspondence perfecting our idea of what Les Paul bodied bass should feel and sound like, and this model is it. The bass uses O.C. Duff P-90 pickups, giving it a distinct, powerful sound that most basses cannot deliver, combined with a mahogany body that emanates warmth. Commissions like this were valued at 2,200 when Stiehler Guitars went under, and now there are very few like this one.
I should mention that there are two minor defects in the bass. First, the crimson finish is worn off around a section of the neck; I never corrected this because it only enhanced the vintage feel that the bass was designed to bring. Second, the pick-up toggle needs minor repair; it sometimes hesitates in switching between pick-ups.
The bass also comes with a tweed case, which has few minor tears but is still serviceable.
Here is a list of schematics on the bass:
-O.C Duff Pickups (Jazz & Blues; No pre-amp)
-Toggle Switch between Pickups
-(Les Paul '55) Mahogany Body
-Maple Top
-Rock Hard Maple Neck
-Indian Rose Fret Board (24 Frets)
-Mother of Pearl Inlays
-Chrome Hard Ware and Shamrock Tuners
